This case study details a turnkey modular data center deployment delivered to a financial services client in Azerbaijan, leveraging the Nebula Series unit platform to deliver robust, space-optimized IT infrastructure tailored to the stringent demands of the finance vertical. Financial institutions require uninterrupted access to core transaction systems, customer data and regulatory reporting tools, alongside strict compliance with data security and operational resilience standards. This prefabricated solution addresses those needs by integrating power, cooling and fire safety into a standardized, rapidly deployable package, eliminating the cost and complexity of traditional data center construction for on-premises IT deployments.
The full solution consists of 7 Nebula Series units, each designed with a flexible system capacity ranging from 3 kW to 10 kW per unit to accommodate diverse IT load profiles. For this Azerbaijan finance project, each unit is configured for an air-cooled power density of 6 kW per unit, delivering a total aggregate IT capacity of 42 kW across the 7-unit installation (6 kW × 7 units). This modular sizing matches the client’s immediate compute and storage requirements, while the inherent scalability of the unit-based design allows for incremental capacity additions as business volumes grow, avoiding upfront overinvestment in oversized infrastructure.
For thermal management, the deployment features in-rack precision cooling, a close-coupled cooling architecture that delivers conditioned air directly inside each equipment rack to target server heat sources at the point of origin. This approach eliminates the risk of localized hotspots, maintains strict, consistent temperature thresholds for sensitive financial hardware, and improves overall energy efficiency by reducing cooling waste. The design is optimized to support the 6 kW per unit air-cooled power density reliably, even in the compact enclosed footprint of each Nebula Series unit.
On the power delivery and backup side, the system implements an N redundancy configuration for its integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS), providing core power conditioning and outage protection for all connected IT loads. Paired with the UPS is a lithium-ion battery backup system that delivers 15 minutes of autonomy following a loss of utility power. This runtime window enables controlled, orderly shutdown of critical financial systems and supports a seamless transition to backup generation, protecting against data loss, corrupted transactions and unplanned service outages.
To satisfy the high bar for physical security and risk mitigation in financial data environments, every unit in the deployment is equipped with an integrated fire suppression system. This built-in safety mechanism provides fast, localized fire detection and suppression within each enclosed rack space, containing incidents quickly to minimize hardware damage, data loss and operational downtime, without causing collateral harm to adjacent equipment or facilities.
